Our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) is an integral part of BDL's environmental management system — designed to treat wastewater generated during manufacturing, before it is discharged or reused.
At Bindlas Duplux Limited, responsible manufacturing extends beyond the production of quality paper and duplex board. The ETP treats wastewater generated during the manufacturing process before it is either discharged to the environment or reused within the plant.
Unlike the paper machine, the ETP does not make paper directly. Instead, it ensures that the water used during manufacturing is cleaned — helping the mill comply with environmental regulations, reduce water consumption, and improve sustainability.
From intake to discharge or reuse, the ETP is designed around four outcomes.
Treats the wastewater generated during kraft paper and duplex board manufacturing before it leaves the process.
Keeps treated water within prescribed environmental standards, helping the mill meet its regulatory obligations.
Treated water is reused within the plant wherever possible, cutting down on fresh water drawn for manufacturing.
Lowers overall water consumption at the mill, supporting a more sustainable, resource-efficient operation.
From fibre to finished reel, backed by 100% captive power.
